Court blocks National Archives from releasing President Trump’s documents.
In a ruling late Thursday afternoon, a three-judge panel of the District of Columbia Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals granted a hold sought by former President Donald Trump to block the National Archives from handing over documents to the House Committee investigating the incidents at the Capitol on January 6.
The order is a victory for the former president, who sued the House and the National Archives and claimed executive privilege over more than 700 records related to the Capitol protest.
A federal judge rejected attempts by President Trump earlier this week to stop the delivery of the first batch of documents, which was slated to happen Friday, after which his team appealed.
Oral arguments on extending the stay are set to take place on November 30.
